You'll spend a few nights preparing before you set out on your trek. Kathmandu is home to numerous historical landmarks that are scattered throughout the city, which you will explore during your sightseeing programme. During your sightseeing programme, you will have the opportunity to explore various religious sites, former royal palaces, and some of the most captivating places and markets. Kathmandu is known by different names bestowed upon it by travellers, such as "the city of temples" and "the old trading routes of Nepal," among others.

Kathmandu has been the capital for centuries, where you can experience the beauty of diverse cultures and ethnicities living harmoniously together. It offers a unique blend of chaos and tranquility, making it a truly one-of-a-kind destination. The streets are alive with local shops offering unique and handmade items. Crowded streets are bustling with people, yet amidst the hustle and bustle, a sense of peace can be found. This city is brimming with temples and historical sites, creating a charming blend of rustic ambience amidst modern development. During your time in Kathmandu, you will visit some incredible landmarks, such as Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath Temple, Swayambhunath Temple, and Boudhanth Stupa. These ancient sites are definitely worth exploring. These places hold immense cultural and religious significance, serving as the foundation for the beautiful traditions we continue to celebrate today.

Manang Valley

During your trek, you will come across Manang, a picturesque village situated along the Annapurna circuit route. Manang is situated in the Annapurna region of central Nepal and is an important part of the Annapurna Conservation Area. This place showcases a wide range of landscapes, from alpine forests to arid highlands, all encompassed by towering peaks that encircle the valley. The high mountains block the monsoon rains, creating a dry and cool desert in this particular area.

Manang's culture is heavily influenced by its proximity to Nepal's border with Tibet. It offers a captivating glimpse into the rich traditions and culture of Tibet, enhancing your overall travel experience. It is located at an elevation of 3,519m above sea level. The beauty of this place is truly awe-inspiring, with its breathtaking view of the mountains, challenging high mountain passes, and stunning natural wonders. During your acclimatisation day, you can hike up to small lakes and nearby viewpoints, allowing you to discover the hidden beauties of the area.

Thorong La Pass

Thorong La Pass is truly a remarkable highlight of the Classic Annapurna Circuit Trek, offering both challenges and breathtaking views. However, the view from the top is truly worth every step taken. People begin their journey to cross the pass at the crack of dawn to avoid the strong winds that intensify later in the day. This can be quite a challenging and tricky task.

Muktinath is a wonderful place to stay, located just after crossing the Thorong La Pass. The location is situated at an elevation of 3,710 metres above sea level. Located along the Annapurna Circuit trek, this site holds great religious importance for both Hinduism and Buddhism in Nepal. The temple in Muktinath is a sacred site devoted to the Hindu god Vishnu, renowned as a destination for spiritual liberation. Buddhists hold this place in high regard due to its close connection to Guru Rinpoche. It is a popular pilgrimage site due to its spiritual and religious significance. Muktinath is not only a pilgrimage site but also offers a stunning view of the majestic Dhaulagiri, the seventh-highest mountain in the world.

Pokhara City

After completing your trek, you will stay in Pokhara, a major city in Nepal. The walking journey concludes in Jomsom, which is approximately 160 km away from Pokhara. Travel Insurance: Travel insurance is crucial for all trips and especially trek programs as it offers financial protection in case of any issues during travel or vacation. Travel insurance provides coverage for a variety of situations, including lost luggage, medical emergencies, and unforeseen accidents. Our company does not provide it, so you will need to obtain it on your own before starting your trip. If you don't want to search for a travel insurance company, we can suggest a few options for you to choose from.

Medical Insurance: Medical insurance is a requirement for your trek program in Nepal's highlands, where the minimum elevation is 2,500. It is essential to consider potential health risks during your trek. Having medical insurance will cover unfortunate accidents during your trek and provide immediate help, such as helicopter evacuation. Medical insurance is essential as it covers healthcare expenses in case of injury during your trek program.

High-altitude sickness: During the trek, you will have the opportunity to explore stunning valleys, visit charming traditional villages, and experience the exhilarating highlands that reach elevations above 3,000m. Altitude sickness is unpredictable; it can happen to anyone despite being physically and mentally fit. As you ascend to higher altitudes, there is a slight increase in the likelihood of experiencing altitude sickness. To prevent altitude sickness, it is recommended to consume 5-6 liters of water per day and consume foods that are high in carbohydrates. Taking slow, gradual steps and allowing your body to adjust to the altitude can help reduce the risk of developing altitude sickness. Maintain your walking pace and focus on your breathing.

Packing List Suggestions: Trekking becomes easier when you have a well-equipped backpack and all the necessary gear. It is particularly important when trekking at higher elevations. If you're unsure about what to pack for trekking in the highlands of Nepal, we have a comprehensive guide available for you. It's called the Nepal Trekking Gear Checklist. When creating a backpack, it is crucial to include clothing, essential items, and a first aid kit. During challenging times, having a reliable backpack can make a significant difference in one's life.

Weather in Nepal

Nepal's climate varies greatly due to its diverse topography and altitude, leading to a wide range of weather conditions throughout the country. The climate is typically divided into four seasons: spring, summer, autumn, and winter.

Spring, which spans from March to May, offers an ideal opportunity to visit Nepal thanks to its pleasant and mild weather. Temperatures range from 16°C to 23°C (61°F to 73°F) at lower elevations, with cooler temperatures at higher altitudes. The current season is perfect for trekking, with clear skies and beautiful rhododendron forests in full bloom. Mountaineering expeditions are popular now too. In Nepal, heavy rainfall and occasional landslides happen during the summer season (June-August) due to the monsoon, especially in the lower regions. Despite the rain, some areas can still reach 30°C (86°F). The greenery and rice terraces are stunning this season.

The best time to visit Nepal is during autumn, which spans from September to November. After the monsoon season, the skies have cleared up, revealing stunning mountain views. The weather is consistently mild, with temperatures ranging from 15°C to 24°C (59°F to 75°F). The pleasant climate and breathtaking scenery make it the peak season for trekking, cultural tours, and wildlife safaris. Kathmandu and Pokhara, situated at lower elevations, experience milder temperatures ranging from 9°C to 12°C (48°F to 54°F). Winter is ideal for lower-altitude treks, cultural tours, and wildlife safaris in the Terai region.
