Thimphu - Capital City

The location of this place is in the western central part of Bhutan, which is surrounded by hills, creating a valley-like geography. The views from anywhere inside Thimphu boast the country's lush greenery and are truly breathtaking. Trongsa - The New Village

Another stunning place that you will visit during your All Bhutan Tour is Trongsa, which translates to ‘’new village’’ in the native language. This district in Bhutan holds great significance, as it has served as a central location for controlling the country. For centuries, it has been the seat of power for the Wangchuck Dynasty, which has effectively governed the eastern and central regions of Bhutan. Start your sightseeing in Trongsa with Chendebji Chorten, a Buddhist stupa situated to the west of Trongsa. It was constructed in the 18th century. The stupa is constructed in the style of a Nepalese stupa and is often compared to the Boudhanath stupa in Kathmandu, Nepal, which is located in the neighbouring country of Bhutan. According to Bhutanese mythology, there is a belief that this chorten serves as a protective barrier against evil spirits. Next is Trongsa Dzong, which is the symbol of the strength and stability of the timeless nation of Druk and the enduring principles of the Dharma. The construction of this structure dates back to 1647, coinciding with the reign of Trongsa Penlop Chogyal Minjur Tenpa. The sheer size of this fortress in Bhutan is truly impressive. Trongsa is truly a remarkable dzong that showcases awe-inspiring Bhutanese craftsmanship and distinctive architecture.

Bumthang Valley

One of the highlights of the trip is the beautiful Bumthang valley, situated to the east of central Bhutan, beyond the Black Mountain. Bumthang is the religious heartland of the nation and is home to some of its oldest Buddhist temples and monasteries. This district in Bhutan is rich in history, with numerous sacred sites and monasteries. This is the place where Guru Rinpoche, in the 8th century CE, successfully healed a king who was suffering from a spirit-induced ailment. The result was that the king and eventually the entire nation embraced Buddhism. As a result, Bumthang is home to a collection of sacred artefacts and monasteries. 

Inside Bumthang Valley, you will visit Jambay Lakhang, also known as Jampa Temple or Temple of Maitreya, which is a remarkable structure in Bumthang. It is one of the 108 temples constructed by the Tibetan king in a single night. A temple was constructed to subdue the malevolent force that impeded the propagation of Buddhism. This temple is the venue for two sacred dances known as Mewang, meaning the fire dance, and Tercham, the nacked dance. Masked individuals perform these two dances. The fire dance is performed to cleanse the souls of individuals, while the naked dance is a ritual aimed at bestowing fertility upon women who are struggling to conceive. 

Next is Kurjey Lhakhang, known as the body imprint temple, which holds a revered status as the most sacred temple in Bhutan. It is truly remarkable, with its position on the side of the hill and the stunning 108 Chorten walls that encircle the complex of the three revered temples. The three temples mentioned are Guru Lakhang, Sampa Lhundrup Lakhang, and Ka Gon Phor Sum Lhakhang. The temple exudes an aura of grandeur, reminiscent of the magnificent Dzongs of Bhutan. Last but not least, Naamkhai Nyinpo Goemba is a Buddhist monastery situated on a hill to the east of the town of Jakar, inside the Bumthang valley. The administrative centre of Bumthang is Namkhai Nyingpo Goemba. The monastery was founded in 1970 and is inhabited by approximately 600 monks who dedicate their lives to studying Nyingma Buddhism.

Phobjikha Valley

Phobjikha Valley in Bhutan is truly captivating and awe-inspiring, renowned as the winter sanctuary for the black-necked crane. Located in central Bhutan, it is a vast U shape valley with an average altitude of 3,000m above sea level. The valley showcases the pristine and extensive flora and fauna of Bhutan, along with impressive ancient Buddhist monasteries. Bhutan is known for its population of around six hundred black-necked cranes, which migrate to places like Phobjikha during the winter months from the Tibetan Plateau.

Paro City

To catch a glimpse of the iconic monastery, a short day hike will be necessary due to its one-of-a-kind location. Once you arrive at the monastery, you will be greeted with a breathtaking panoramic view of the Paro valley, surrounded by pristine nature. Once you complete your hike, you'll have the opportunity to explore Kyichu Lhakhang, another significant religious site. This temple holds great religious and national significance and is one of Bhutan's oldest and most beautiful temples. Next is Jangtse Dumgtseg Lakhang, a Buddhist temple located in western Bhutan, inside the Paro Valley. The temple is truly remarkable with its unique chorten-like design, which is rare in Bhutan. The location of this place is on the edge of a hill, nestled between Paro Valley and Dopchari Valley. You can access it by crossing a bridge. One of the biggest attractions in Paro is Rinpung Dzong, also known as the Paro Dzong. It is conveniently located near the international airport, making it the first thing you will see upon landing in Paro.
